Supplies for this Broken Makeup Hack
· Rubbing Alcohol (at least 80%)
· Plastic Wrap
· A Spoon
Broken Makeup Hack: Step One
Smash that baby up! In order to fix broken makeup, you need to start by breaking it even more. You want to smash all of the chunks until all of the makeup is just a fine powder. The best way to do this is by covering the makeup with a sheet of plastic wrap and grinding it down with the back of a spoon. This also helps contain the mess. After all, that powder has a tendency to get everywhere.
Broken Makeup Hack: Step Two
The next step of your broken makeup hack is to adhere the powder together. This is where the rubbing alcohol comes in. Pour enough into the container that the makeup becomes a thick paste. Cover the makeup once again with the plastic wrap and use the back of the spoon to smoothen the paste out. The spoon helps work the paste into all corners of the container.
Broken Makeup Hack: Step Three
In order to fully fix broken makeup, you need to let it set. Remove the plastic wrap and set it out somewhere warm and dry. The liquid from the rubbing alcohol will evaporate, leaving you a completely fixed compact. Just make sure you allow the powder to completely dry before using it. Otherwise you run the risk of breaking it again. The top of the compact won’t look as beautiful as it did when you bought it, but that’s ok, right? It’s better than having a mess of powder everywhere in your bag.
A Word to the Wise!
I have noticed that once you fix broken makeup using this broken makeup hack, the makeup tends to break again a little more easily. So once a compact goes, I have to keep fixing it. But honestly, I don’t really mind having to fix it. At least this way I can use the makeup until it’s gone, and I don’t have to worry so much about causing a mess every time I open the lid.
