These so-called “Picture Lines” are most often danced in Standard and Smooth. If you’re not sure of the different between Standard and Smooth, read this quick overview of the different styles!

Picture Lines in Ballroom Dancing
What are picture lines in ballroom dancing, you might ask? Picture lines in ballroom dancing form a family figures otherwise known as “line moves”. Which lines are danced and in what order change over time just like clothing. Twenty years ago, it was unfashionable to dance many picture lines back to back. Nowadays, however, it’s very popular to dance many different lines in succession in what we called a “cluster” of lines. Picture line in ballroom dancing are those lines when photographers are most likely to take a picture, hence the name.
