Who is SK Dancesport?

SK Dancesport is the partnership of Simeon (the ‘S’) and Kora (the ‘K’), a professional ballroom dancesport couple. For the past 19 years, they have danced together and traveled the world. 15 years ago they started teaching, first kids and then adults. 6 years ago they opened their own ballroom dance studio, Aria Ballroom. As amateur competitors they were Youth National Standard Champions, 11-time Pacific Northwest Regional Champions, and 7-time US National Finalists. When they turned professional they first represented Simeon’s home country of Bulgaria for three years. They won the Bulgarian National Championships in Standard, 10-Dance, and Classical Showdance all three years. In 2013 they were finalists of the European Classical Showdance Championships. After moving back to America, Simeon and Kora have been focusing their efforts on winning the World 10-Dance Championships. Currently they are the American Vice-Champions and are ranked 6th in the world.

Kora Stoynova is the author for most of the posts on this blog. As an inspiration and role model for the hundreds of students Kora works with, she is constantly giving out information, imparting useful advice, and educating future dancers. As an art and a sport, Ballroom Dancing can impart wisdom and lessons one carries with them for the rest of their lives. This is Kora’s way of giving that information to the world. Built from a life of dance, Kora’s knowledge is ever-growing. She shares everything, from dance themes like how to choose your Latin shoe, to general knowledge like understanding your body type. Let’s be honest, Kora wouldn’t be able to do what she does without the support of Simeon and their puppy Casper. He’s a difficult puppy, too smart for his own good and has way too much energy!
